Knutsford has become the county epicentre for Slow Food Cheshire, the food appreciation group set up to champion traditional local produce and artisan producers.

Since its formation in the summer of 2007, the group – or Convivium as they are called -  has hosted many of its tasting events and dinners at the town’s Civic Hall behind the Tatton Cinema .  “Knutsford is very central for our membership and many of the specialist food producers” said  SFC Secretary Peter Harris

The Cheshire group is affiliated to the international Italian-based Slow Food Movement, established more than 20 years ago to counter the escalation in fast food and preserve the best traditions of local food. It is now the biggest group outside London and Edinburgh.

The group’s next event  at the Civic Hall will be a Sunday lunch on June 14 to celebrate the arrival of this year’s  spring lamb and Cheshire new potatoes .The price is £20 a head (£15 for members)
