Knutsford HC Mens 2nd XI vs Alderley Edge 3rd XI
Knutsford Mens Hockey Club’s second team breathed a collective sigh of relief on Saturday as they secured their first win since October 2008. The game followed a typical pattern, strong opening play, plenty of early chances, but the luck not flowing their way. Again the opposition (Alderley Edge) opened the scoring, forcing Knutsford to chase the game.

This week however Knutsford dug their heels in and refused to be beaten. The team kept up a relentless onslaught of pressure on the Alderley Edge defence and late in the first half returning midfielder Serrao powered home a shot from the right hand side. Knutsford’s hard work continued in the second half and their flowing midfield passes resulted in several more chances, and ultimately a goal from Yarwood in the middle of the half.

These valuable 3 points, whilst not changing the league position significantly, reduce some pressure in a very tight league. Next week the team travel to Wales to continue their campaign.

Knutsford HC Mens 3rd XI vs Bramhall 4th XI
Knutsford’s 3rd team travelled away to Bramhall on Saturday looking to continue their good run of form with a win against a lower placed team.   Whilst they did not gain all 3 points they did come away with a 2-2 draw which keeps them 3rd in the Division.  Goals came from vice captain Lawrence and Wright, with Man of the Match going to veteran defender Moss – he’s leading the way showing the youngsters how to do it.

Next week the team welcome Oxton with a 3.30pm pushback. celebration
