Thrilling End to End Stuff
It all started well for the men in black who passed the ball with effortless ease and had plenty of chances to go ahead within the first 10 minutes with chances being squandered. So it was with some shock that Rhyl went ahead with a solo run by their quick centre forward who rounded 3 defenders and the young keeper Robbins.
This revved the Knutsford players up and before half time the scoreline was 2-2 with goals from Fielding and Drake.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Knutsford having the majority of the play but Rhyl refusing to give up, and the game went from end to end in a thrilling manner, no one quite sure who was going to take the game. Fielding gave the home side the advantage with his second for the day and then Adrian Holah popped up to give them a 2 goal advantage at 4-2.
However, Rhyl again responded and the scoreline became a nervous 4-3 to Knutsford. In the dying minutes Knutsford were awarded a penalty stroke which would have surely have settled the match. Fielding stepped up to make it a hattrick but hit the post. Knutsford were then given a further advantage when a Rhyl player was sin binned for 5 minutes for dissent. However, the scoreline remained unchanged and Knutsford were worthy winners but Rhyl pushed them all the way.
