Third placed Knutsford 3rd XI journeyed to 2nd from bottom Bebington expecting a tough match. The early signs were not good as Bebington pressured from the off, forcing new keeper Taylor into early saves. Five minutes into the game and 30% of the Knutsford squad were looking peaky to say the least, and not upto their usual standard.
However, Knutsford soon got into the groove creating a number of chances. Skipper Marsland had a penalty flick saved well and Evans missed from close range with just the keeper to beat.
Second half started well as Marsland setup Crabtree to start the scoring. At that point the Knutsford team had peaked.
Ford, Todd and Riley defended and were unlucky to concede from a short corner awarded from our umpire Martin Mr Magoo Baker 🙂
The second goal from Bebington came from poor marking and weak tackling from one of the three Amigos. With only 5 minutes left it gave little chance of a comeback. This was the first defeat since Skipper Marsland took over in November and was a bitter pill to take.
This defeat drops the 3rd XI to 5th in the division and captain Marsland will be expecting more from his team next week when they welcome Alderley Edge to Westfield Drive for a 12.30 pushback.
