Free blood pressure and heartbeat screening across Cheshire
Healthy living pharmacies (HLP’s) across Cheshire have started to offer blood pressure and heartbeat screen services to patients.
Part of an initiative by the British Heart Foundation, the project aims to achieve a minimum of 5,000 new blood pressure checks each year, as part of a trial of community based services to improve access to blood pressure testing.
The service is available for adults aged 18 and over who may have undiagnosed high blood pressure, who are not pregnant and do not have a known irregular heartbeat.
120 HLP’s have been trained to take blood pressure measurements
A digital tool aimed at encouraging discussion and engaging people to take blood pressure testing and lead healthier lives was due to be developed this month.
