Anderton Boat Lift offers free boat trip with afternoon tea this Mother’s Day

By on March 6, 2018

Anderton Boat Lift, near Northwich, Cheshire is offering the chance of deluxe afternoon tea at its Lift-side marquee this Mother’s Day with a free boat trip down the picturesque River Weaver.

Available on Sunday 11 March between 11.30 – 4.30pm this is part of a series of bespoke afternoon teas that will run from Mother’s Day until early autumn. Run by the Canal & River Trust charity, tickets cost £14.99 each. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly, for further information and to book, visit https://visitchester.digitickets.co.uk/tickets

Graham Wood, Anderton Boat Lift’s Duty Manager, said: “Mothers are special and deserve to be pampered. Booking a stylish afternoon tea at the Lift shows real thought has been given to making her day a special one. A free boat trip down the river is also a wonderful outing for the rest of the family. This is infinitely better than an expensive, hastily-chosen gift bought in desperation.”

There is no cost to enter the Anderton Boat Lift site and it is also free to visit the hands-on exhibition. There is also a well-stocked shop.

For those visiting the Lift during its opening season (March-October), the Anderton Boat Lift offers regular boat trips for which there is a charge. Visitors can experience how it feels to be magically transported through the Lift by this piece of high Victorian engineering. Alternatively, visitors can opt for a special boat trip and learn about the unique industrial heritage of Northwich, a town that has made its living on salt for more than 2000 years

There is no charge for children under 5 years old and the adult charge only applies to children over 15-years old.
