Appeal for witnesses following burglary at Handforth off-licence

Officers from Macclesfield CID are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a burglary at an off-licence in Handforth.

At approximately 2.20am on Monday 16 April Officers were called to reports of suspicious activity GoLocal Store on Plumley Road, Handforth.

Officers swiftly attended the scene and found that four unknown men had forced entry into the store and stolen a quantity of cigarettes, alcohol and cash.

Detective Sergeant Angela Coppock said: “Investigations in relation to this incident are currently in the early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“This incident has caused concern in the local community and we’re committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible.

“As part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the local area at the time of this incident and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 37527. Information can also be passed anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.

Two men have since been arrested by officers from Greater Manchester Police in relation to the incident. They are currently in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
