RBS to close Knutsford branch
Royal Bank of Scotland is closing its Knutsford, Alderley Edge and Handforth branches as part of a nationwide shake up of their branch network.
The Knutsford branch will closed on 14th August 2018 followed by Handford on 11th November and Alderley Edge on 29th November. Wilmslow will be the nearest branch following the closures.
Nearly 800 jobs will be lost nationally as a result of the restructure.
RBS said: “Following a review of the branch network in England and Wales a decision has been taken to close 162 Royal Bank of Scotland branches. As a result of this process, around 792 roles will be made redundant, and we will seek to support our colleagues with the option to leave on a voluntary basis.”.
Over 100 branches will close in later on in the year with a further 53 in November.
RBS also said that the move relates to the different way that people are using banks and branches with more transactions being doing using mobile banking than previously.
