Countdown on for return of Kids Duathlon

By on June 30, 2018

Entries are still open for the Smart Financial Canute Kids Duathlon at Egerton Youth Club (Knutsford) on Sunday July 8th.

The event made a successful debut last July, when over 120 primary school aged children from Knutsford and the surrounding area took part.

The Smart Financial Canute Kids Duathlon caters for children from 4-12 years of age, with three run-bike-run events and a Fun Run.

“It’s a really inspiring day, because the focus is all about taking part and having fun in a safe environment.” organiser Vicky McKinnon said.

“We have made a few tweaks for this year by opening entries up to Year 7 pupils and there will also be trophies up for grabs,” McKinnon added.

Distances vary depending on age, but all of the races are held in the grounds of Egerton Youth Club on Mereheath Lane in Knutsford.

“It doesn’t matter how fast or slow the kids are, there is so much support from parents and volunteers!”  Fellow organiser Helen Murray of Chelford said.

“Each participant is encouraged around the course and rewarded for their hard work with a medal and a goodie bag,” Murray added.

Altrincham based financial planning business Smart Financial have continued to back the event.  “It’s a fantastic initiative to help promote an active lifestyle and we are delighted to support it again this year,” Chief Executive Steve Martin said.

Each participant will also receive healthy treats from Bear Nibbles at the finish line and a discount on clothing from EverActiv sportswear.  Paul Rance, Manager ofCFC Charity Bike Shop in Prestbury, will also be on hand for any last minute bike mechanical issues.

Children will need their own bike and helmet to take part in the event which costs £10 for the duathlon and £5 for the Fun Run.  Entries are open online at  For the latest information head to
