Mobberley Brewhouse to open two Tap Rooms this summer

By on July 6, 2018

Building on a significant period of growth in 2017, The Mobberley Brewhouse is opening two tap rooms – including one in Knutsford.

On the site of what used to be The Tap & Bottle, Minshull Street, development is underway to create a new Tap Room called Project 53. Opening in August, this will be the first point of sale for the Mobberley Brewhouse and will be a celebration of all things craft beer and gin.

Project 53 will focus on providing a range of first-rate craft beer. But it will also specialise in gin, introducing exciting gins from around the UK and beyond. The Tap Room will offer customers a huge variety different beers; around 50% of which will be Mobberley Brewhouse beers and the remainder will be carefully selected beers from friends of the business.

Owner & Head Brewer James Roberts said: “There will be no competition between the craft beers we have on offer, it will just all be great beer! The knowledge and passion of all our staff will be what makes it special. Customers want personal recommendations on the beers, and that’s what we can offer.”

The name ‘Project 53’ is derived from its latitudinal position of 53 degrees north on the map. In addition to craft beer and gin, Project 53 will also offer customers a good selection of wine, cider and spirits. There will be regular live music to create a comfortable atmosphere.

James sums up his philosophy for Project 53 as: “To create a welcoming bar where people can have a great time and enjoy quality          craft beer and gin.”

A second ‘Project 53’ Tap Room will also open in Stockport. This foray into the on-trade signals the start of big growth plans for the Mobberley-based brewery, with Sophie Roberts – James’ sister – joining the business as Operations Director after years of involvement in the brewery and a background in marketing.

Sophie said, of her appointment: “I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Operations Director for Project 53. Ever since James started the Mobberley Brewhouse business in 2011, I have been    involved in one way or another. It’s great to finally formalise my involvement in the business and I am really excited about our plans for the future.”

Project 53 in Knutsford and Stockport will both open in August this year.
