Family fun at Cheshire’s favourite tourist attractions this summer

By on July 30, 2018

This summer, Cheshire’s Favourite Days Out network is making it easier for families to save money and enjoy great days out at top attractions across the county.

From stately homes, botanic gardens and model villages to nuclear bunkers, tree-top walks and an interactive science museum, there is something to suit everyone’s tastes. Offers also include the chance for one under 12-year old child to go free to any of Chester Storyhouse’s summer open air performances, providing they are accompanied by a paying adult. All vouchers can be run off at and should be presented to the attraction on arrival.

Designed with families, Cheshire’s Favourite Days Out offers include:

  • Three-for-one attraction Tatton Park near Knutsford is giving those who visit Tatton Farm the chance of getting into the neo-classical mansion and 50-acres of award-winning gardens at no extra cost. This ‘three attractions for the price of one’ offer is available throughout the Summer.
  • Discounts Go Ape offers a 10% discount to explorers of the forest canopy on its thrilling tree-top rope course. Northwich’s ‘Cathedral of the Canals’, the Anderton Boat Lift is offering 25% off two or more fully-priced boat trips. This is a chance to floated through the air from river to canal on this outstanding piece of Victorian engineering or alternatively enjoy a trip along the picturesque River Weaver.
  • Two-for-one entry. The spectacular model village at Port Sunlight, Wirral, is offering two-for-one entry to its museum. The exhibition tells the story of this extraordinary village – the vision of Lord Lever – founder of the worldwide company, Unilever. The same offer applies to Norton Priory near Warrington. The newly refurbished museum with its delightful 18th century walled garden, tranquil woodland and artefacts from its 900-year history also offers a varied programme of summer fun for children including a medieval weekend on Sat 18th & Sun 19th August. ‘Two for one’ entry is also available at Ness Botanic Gardens. This superb 64-acre multi award winning garden has won a succession of awards and it is a plant-lovers delight.
  • Child goes free with paying adult For 50 years the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker near Nantwich was a secret. Its large underground complex, intended as the centre of Regional Government in the event of a nuclear war, tells the fascinating and chilling story of the Cold War from one of its nerve centres.  This offer also applies to the Catalyst Science and Discovery Centre which explores the science and technology behind the chemical industry and explains the presence of much of much of Cheshire’s chemical industry. With a full paying adult, one under 12-year old child goes free to any of Storyhouse’s open air performances in Chester. This year’s summer line-up includes the children’s classic ‘Swallows & Amazons’ as well as The Tempest’ and ‘Much Ado About Nothing’

Katrina Michel, Chief Executive, Marketing Cheshire, said: “Summer is an expensive time for families and these offers give substantial discounts to top quality tourist attractions across Cheshire. Now that the school holidays are here, there has never been a better time to pack the car with children and a picnic and explore some of the amazing gems on our doorstep with friends. With five attraction offering Favourite Days Out vouchers nearby, people living in Chester are particularly well-placed to get save money and have fun this summer.”
