Man arrested following county lines drugs operation in Congleton
Officers have arrested a man on suspicion of illegal drugs offences after executing a warrant in Congleton.
The 32-year-old local man was arrested earlier today, Thursday 4 October, at an address on Lawton Street.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and is currently in custody helping officers with their enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Jon Ryder said: “Today’s warrant was conducted as part of our ongoing efforts to target those who undermine the lives of local people and bring misery to residents through their involvement in organised crime and illegal drugs.
“Intelligence suggests that the man arrested today may be linked to a county lines network that is bringing drugs into the Congleton area from nearby cities.
“In addition to the arrest, we recovered cash and a quantity of class A drugs which may well have been destined for the streets of Congleton.
“I hope that today′s operation reassures local people that we are listening to what they are saying and taking their concerns seriously.
“Community intelligence is vital and I urge anyone with any information in relation to the use and supply of illegal drugs in Congleton to get in touch on 101. Alternatively information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
