Cheshire’s Tesco customers donate 78,000 to those in need

By on January 5, 2019

Cheshire’s Tesco customers have donated 78,000 meals to charities FareShare and Trussell Trust as part of their winter food collections.

Customers donated food in all Tesco branches in the area, with the retailer topping up donations by 20%, providing the charities with funding to run the foodbanks and distribute the food to those in need. The collection ran from 29th November to 1st December.

Jason Tarry, Tesco’s CEO in the UK, said: “Year upon year we are taken aback by the generosity of customers who give to the Tesco Food Collection in our stores the length and breadth of the UK. We know that this annual collection makes a real difference to the charities we work with, and I would like to thank everyone who has donated, volunteered or helped in store.

Lindsay Boswell, CEO at FareShare, said: “The food donated at the Tesco Food Collection will make a tremendous difference to the thousands of charities and community groups that FareShare supports,”
