Photographer Dan Holland, who runs Tatton Photography in Knutsford, will be offering £5 portrait shots for those taking part in the 2019 Royal May Day Festival.

The shop – based in Knutsford Market Hall – will be open on 4th May 2019 and Dan will be carrying out mini-shoots for children in costume from 8am-1pm and 3pm-6pm.

The shoot with cost £5 and the professional 6 x 4″ portrait can be collected on the day. Additional photos will be priced at £1 each and upgrades are available for an additional cost.

Dan said: “Like most other Knutsfordians May Day is one of my favourite occasions; in fact, I’d say it’s better than Christmas. It’s a time when the town truly comes together. There’s always a fantastic buzz on the streets and it’s a great opportunity to catch up with people you’ve not seen for a while.”

He added: “Parents always tell me how difficult it is to get a decent shot of their children on the day, and I thought this would offer them a good, affordable solution. I can’t wait to showcase some of the beautiful costumes, many of which I believe are now quite old. I will be open all day so people can come before or after the procession. However, it’s really important to state that if people are coming after the procession, they must not wear their costumes on the fair. “The May Day Committee do a great job each year of nurturing these precious costumes, and I would hate to see any of them damaged.”

Together with his fellow traders in the Market Hall, Dan is supporting the May Day this year with fundraising.
