Knutsford Fire Station boosted by two new on-call firefighters

By on May 18, 2019

Two new recruits have joined the crew at Knutsford Fire Station after successfully completing their firefighter training.

Harry Garewal and Ed Snook have undergone a vigorous training course over several months to become on-call firefighters.

Their hard work culminated in a passing-out parade at The Park Royal hotel in Warrington recently.

The event was attended by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin, Deputy Chair of Cheshire Fire Authority Cllr Stef Nelson and the High Sheriff of Cheshire Alexis Redmond.

Following the ceremony, Gus O’Rouke, Assistant Chief Officer for CFRS’ Chief Fire Officer, said: “I would like to congratulate Harry and Ed for completing their training and to welcome them to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

“Working with the fire and rescue service is a thoroughly rewarding experience. It gives individuals the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and meet people in the community, as well as to respond to emergency incidents within Cheshire.

“Harry and Ed are now on-call firefighters at Knutsford Fire Station where they will be responding to emergencies within their local community.”

Having completed their training Harry and Ed have both started their new roles as on-call firefighters serving the residents of Knutsford.

Harry has lived in Knutsford for most of his life. He works full time as a fulltime store assistant and in his spare time he enjoys playing football, walking his dog and going to the gym.

The 23-year-old said: “As a local resident I’m proud to serve the community where I live and I’m looking forward to all the challenges I’ll face in my new role as an on call firefighter at Knutsford Fire Station.”

Ed, 27, lives in Knutsford with his partner and four-year-old daughter. The couple are also expecting another child.

Edward works as a plumber/gas engineer and enjoys playing rugby, going to the gym and spending time at the beach with his family.

He said: “The training to become a firefighter has been an amazing experience and I feel privileged to work as an On Call Firefighter at Knutsford Fire Station.”
