Knutsford Music Festival announces headliners
Blues fans are in for a real treat next month at Knutsford Music Festival.
The popular Friday Night Blues event is returning to the festival after two successful years.
It will be held for the first time at St John’s Church, on Friday, June 21, after being staged at the Brook Street Club for the past two years.
Michael Roach will be headlining the evening, performing alongside his daughter Sadie.
Michael, from Washington DC, sings and plays guitar in an East Coast Blues style which dates from the 1920s.
He has enjoyed an extensive Blues career, and has led numerous workshops throughout the USA and Europe over more than three decades.
Michael is the founder of the European Blues Association and director of its annual Blues Week, which has been running since 2000 across the UK.
His daughter Sadie is a third-year student at the Guildhall School of Music and an accomplished jazz pianist.
She has grown up on the Blues scene, and was featured on her father’s 2019 album, Tryin’ Times.
The father-daughter duo promises a rich variety of jazz and blues sure to excite Blues fans, and will be supported by blues guitarist and vocalist Rick Whitehead, returning to the festival for his third year.
Rick performed at Friday Night Blues in the festival’s first year in 2017, and festival organisers are excited to welcome him back.
The Valkyries will also be supporting the headliners. The festival newcomers are a Cheshire-based duo, who feature intricate guitar playing and soulful vocals, and will perform a variety of their original material.
Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are £15, available online now via the festival website or from the Knutsford Town Council offices on Toft Road.
Tickets may be available on the door subject to availability.
