Roberts Bakery team give their time to charity
Volunteers from Roberts Bakery spent time helping to revamp an unused outdoor space into visitor car parking at a Cheshire children’s charity.
Ten people from the bakery spent the day digging and weeding The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), in Millington.
The newly-cleared area will provide much needed parking for the charity’s minibuses and up to 20 visitor and staff cars.
CAFT which provides holidays, respite care and activity days for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the north west.
The bakery has given at least 300 days of volunteering time over the last 10 years, and also donates hundreds of loaves of bread to the charity throughout the year.
CAFT fundraiser Helen Crowther said: “Fundraising is vital to help us look after around 3,000 children a year, but this means we often don’t have the time and resources to make essential improvements on site so that the children and their families can have the best possible experience while they’re with us. The support of companies like Roberts is really important to us and the team did an incredible job clearing a very overgrown and unused space. We can’t thank them enough for their help on this project and, indeed, all their support over the years.”
Roberts family member Lindsay Occleston was among the 10-strong volunteer team that tackled the overgrowth.
She said: “Creating this new car park was vital to CAFT but they were really struggling to get this job done themselves. We were delighted to dig in and help this wonderful charity and we were all amazed at how much work we got through in a day. It was fantastic for even more people from Roberts to do something positive in the community and to learn more about a local charity that does so much for so many children from our region.”
