Cheshire Freemasons ‘pull together’ to provide Wirral Hospice St John’s

By on June 20, 2019

Wirral Hospice St John’s was able to replace all of its patient cubicle curtains alongside all of its patient bay, window lined, curtains on its inpatient ward, thanks to a kind grant of £10,000 from the Cheshire Freemasons.

The money went to purchase materials, fixings and fitting to replace the curtains at the hospice which were more than 12 years old. Infection control protocols provide that the curtains have to be rigorously cleaned regularly and the old ones had lost much of their colour. The new curtains complement the refurbishment of the family and patient lounges at the hospice which adds to the welcoming feeling around the hospice.

Jill Littlewood, Inpatients Ward Manager for Wirral Hospice St John’s said; “We try to re-create a home-from-home feel for all of our patients, and their families, whenever they’re here. The new curtains add a bright backdrop in the daytime and the special lining means we have the right kind of light for whenever rest, or sleep, is necessary. We’re so grateful to the Cheshire Freemasons for this generous grant. We thank them all from the bottom of our hearts”

Stephen Blank, Head of Cheshire Freemasons added; “We are delighted to have been able to help Wirral Hospice St John’s, on behalf of our many members who appreciate the valuable care and support services they provide.”
