New CBT practice launches in Knutsford
Spring Psychotherapy, a new practice offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), has recently launched in Knutsford. The company, which is located on King Street, opened its doors in June 2019, and is already attracting clients from across the town and beyond.
Owner, Joanne Robertson, is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner with over 12 years’ experience. Having worked in the NHS for many years, Joanne felt the time was right to open up her own private practice.
“I have always been a passionate supporter of the NHS and in many ways was sad to leave, but I want to offer clients a service that is accessible, flexible and more importantly, available when they need it most,” said Joanne. “Long NHS waiting lists mean that this sort of treatment isn’t always obtainable at times of crisis, but I want to change this. Sometimes, people simply cannot wait.”
The practice offers CBT and EMDR treatments to adults suffering from conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD and panic attacks.
“Although I treat some very specific and quite severe conditions, I am also seeing an increasing number of people that are struggling with social anxiety, general stress and emotional trauma, and often, simply overwhelmed by life. It is often at these times, when we are struggling, that we become our own worst critics, saying things to ourselves that we would never dream of saying to others and this pushes us in to further distress. It takes a lot of courage for people to acknowledge that they have a problem and need help and it is my job is to help them find a way forward.”
She adds: “Having lived in the town and worked in the area for many years, I knew that Knutsford would be the ideal place to establish my business. Based at the far end of King Street near Tatton Park, I am delighted with the premises and am really looking forward to integrating with the town’s business community.”
