Flood warning for Knutsford and surrounding areas tonight
Some homes in Knutsford and the surrounding areas are at ‘immediate risk’ of flooding tonight.
The Environment Agency are warning of possible flooding in dozens of other places across Greater Manchester and Cheshire tonight.
The River Mersey in East Didsbury and East Didsbury; Hey Brook and the River Roch in Rochdale; Timperley Brook, in Altrincham and Poynton Brook, in Poynton have a flood warning – meaning residents in affected areas should take immediate action.
Flood warnings are in place for:
- River Mersey at Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston and in Hyde, Ashton-under-Lyne, Dneton, Stalybridge and Glossop
- River Irwell in Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale and Ramsbottom
- River Bollin in Knutsford, Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Bollinton
- River Dane in Sandbach and Congleton
- River Glaze in Wigan
Forecasters say it will rain all night in Greater Manchester, only stopping at 9am on Monday. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.
