Appeal following aggravated burglary in Congleton

By on August 9, 2019

Detectives investigating an aggravated burglary in Congleton are appealing for information and footage from members of the public.

At around 9.30pm on Tuesday 6 August five men wearing balaclavas gained entry to a flat in Moston Court.

An occupier opened the door to them as they were banging on it and claimed to be from the police.

Once inside the address the offenders demanded money.

One of them was holding a crowbar and another was carrying a wooden bat.

After being shown the location of some cash they fled with the money in an unknown direction.

All of the offenders are described as being white and around 5’ 9” tall. They are estimated to be in their 20s.

Four of them had a slim build and the other was stocky.

The stocky man was wearing a light grey V-neck sweatshirt. The other offenders were dressed in black.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information or footage regarding the offenders to get in touch.

Detective Constable Andrew Roberts, of Macclesfield CID, said: “I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are determined to establish the identities of the offenders and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who has any information regarding the offenders, or was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious, to get in touch.

“If you think that you may have seen the offenders before they carried out the burglary or as they were fleeing the area please contact the team here at Macclesfield CID.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are or have dashcam or CCTV footage of them.”

Anyone with information or CCTV footage that may aid the ongoing investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 479824, give the details via or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
