Free blood pressure checks for Knutsford residents
Residents can have their blood pressure checked for free in Knutsford next weekend.
The Rotary Club of Knutsford will be holding its annual Stroke Awareness Know Your Blood Pressure event in the Methodist Church in Princess Street.
The event is being held on Saturday, September 7, from 9.30am to 1.30pm, in conjunction with the Stroke Association.
The Stroke Association and Rotary International are calling on residents to help the two organisations conquer stroke by getting their blood pressure checked.
The number of people diagnosed as having high blood pressure has increased consistently since 2005.
In England alone more than five and a half million people remain undiagnosed and untreated for the condition – making them ticking time bombs for stroke.
A Rotary spokesman said: “We have been supporting this event in Knutsford for many years and we are most grateful to the Methodist Church for allowing us to make use of the premises each year.
“Over the years we have measured the blood pressure of hundreds of people, the majority showing ‘normal’ results.
“However, where they aren’t in the ‘normal’ range we have been able to advise the not insignificant number of people on the appropriate course of action.
“It is important to remember, though, that the process is confidential, and the final decision as to what to do with the information is entirely up to the individual.”
