Regent creativity: Mayday fun lives on.

By on June 24, 2009

In conjunction with the recent Knutsford May Day Festival, the local businesses on Regent Street in the town centre organised a Family Day street party.

The highlight if this event was the display of artwork created and designed by local school children entering the May Day Drawing Competition.

The brief was simple; choose one of the businesses on the street and design a product you would like to see for sale in that shop. The entries were as colourful as they were varied, making the task of choosing winners an exceptionally difficult one!

After much head-scratching and deliberation the winners were chosen and invited to Via Via on Saturday to receive their prizes. The 4 runners-up each received a complimentary meal courtesy of Loch Fyne.

Second place went to Tom Siara for his ‘Perfect Pizza’, who took away an Children’s Italian Food Hamper supplied by Via Via that was almost as big as he was!

The unanimous winner was Sarah Nixon who won a brand new mobile phone, donated by Carphone Warehouse, for her modern design for a mobile phone.

Congratulations to all the worthy winners!

Overall the standard of all the entries was exceptionally high, and the local traders on Regent Street would like to express their thanks to all the children who entered, as well as the staff from St. Vincents Roman Catholic Primary School, Lisa Senior and Egerton Primary School and also The Design Partnership for their help in organising this years competition.
