Keeping Civic Pride alive.
Take pride in "Our Knutsford" and support the Mayor in his annual parade and address to the town this Sunday.
The Knutsford Civic Sunday is being held on 5th July at St. John's Church. The Parade starts at 09.50 from the Sessions House. It will be let by the award winning Alderly Edge Scout band.
The route is to the roundabout, into Canute Place, down Princess Street and Church Hill where the Parade will enter the Church for the 10.15 Service. The Mayors of Cheshire East, Macclesfield, Bollington, Winsford, Northwich, Middlewich and Poynton will be present.
The first lesson will be read by David Want, the Mayor's brother, and the second by the Mayor. After the Service the Mayor will hold a recepion for his party and guests.
This service is held every year, and normally takes place as soon as possible after the inauguration of the Mayor. Its' origins go back a long way, and it was devised as a means of showing the population of a Town the new Mayor and Council. The event also represents the coming together of the Local Organisations, Charities and Civic Institutions, like the council, the police, etc, with the church so come along and support the town.
