Flag flies proudly over the Moor – Video report included.
On Thursday 24 September FOTM (Friends of the Moor) together with representatives of Knutsford Town Council, the May Day committee, CEC (Cheshire East Council) and local residents, gathered together on the Moor to raise the Green Flag.
The Town Mayor, Cllr T Want, and the Knutsford May Queen, Katie Smith raised the flag to the applause of the assembled crowd. Katie was resplendent in her full regalia together with her crown and even gave an interview to the local press.
A short time earlier the May Queen had unveiled the new Fat Bird™, ‘Bonnie the Blushing Bloomer’ with the help of the artist, Patricia Lee and Kathy Swindells of CEC. If you look carefully around the existing Fat Bird™ Belle you can see where the shoes of little visitors who have come to stroke her have worn down the grass. She has been a great attraction for youngsters and now they can enjoy the company of Bonnie in addition to Belle.
Chairman of FOTM Charles Watson and Kathy Swindells of CEC said how pleased they were with the turnout and particularly to see the number of children stopping on their way home from school to participate in the event. For Knutsford Town this is another important milestone in the ‘History of the Moor’ (see download from K Times).
