Crime figures reduced in Knutsford

By on September 28, 2009

This proves that Cheshire police are being more effective in tackling crime in the area. Positive intervention does help to reduce the figures but better community involvement is essential when driving public confidence about the police force in the area.

More people are calling the local police with information on criminal activity which furthers the success on the Knutsford Neighbourhood Policing team. This disproves the belief that overall public confidence in the regional policing is drifting, as public involvement is on the increase thanks to visible results and crime prevention.

In general, Cheshire Police feel that they are policing smarter and more efficiently. The modernised targeting of criminals is proving to be effective and is making a difference not just in Knutsford but across the region. Working in close partnership with other agencies now results in a better standard of policing for the community.

Public support needs to be maintained or even increased as civic involvement with the local policing teams provides the town with a better future and a safer place for us all to live. Pots, pans and oh look, a rifle…
Sometime on the 12th of September during an intensive cleaning exercise a 7 ft long, 100 year old black powder musket was uncovered in an old barn at the Roebuck Inn, Mill lane, Mobberley.

Roebuck manageress Jane Marsden told the Knutsford times “We were just clearing out the barn to make some room when It was found under behind a pile of rubbish” The discovery was initially made by Sean Fryer who recognized it as firearm and immediately contacted the police.

The rifle will no doubt be deactivated but it is thought that the lengthy firearm could become a museum piece due to its obvious age.
