Smooth Radio Starlight Supper

By on January 11, 2010

Smooth will be asking its listeners to hold a dinner party for family and friends on Saturday 27th February and ask for donations in exchange for some wonderful food and great company.  Money raised from Smooth Radio Starlight Suppers will go to each station’s nominated charity of the year, which is collectively referred to as ‘The Smooth Appeal.’
These are the stations individual charities:
102.2 Smooth Radio London – Breast Cancer Care
106.6 Smooth Radio East Midlands – Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People
105.2 Smooth Radio Glasgow – Marie Curie’s Big Build
100.4 Smooth Radio North West – Macmillan Cancer Support
105.7 Smooth Radio West Midlands – Macmillan Cancer Support
97.5 and 107.7 Smooth Radio North East – Macmillan Cancer Support
A raft of top chefs; Anthony Worrall Thompson, Brian Turner, Simon Rimmer, Andrew Nutter and Steve Docherty are supporting the event, along with Rachael Bermingham and Kim McCosker, authors of the ‘4 Ingredients’ cook books.  Each of our celebrity chefs will be donating dinner party menus and recipes which will be available in special dinner party packs or to download at
Listeners who register to hold a Starlight Supper before 23rd February will receive a pack containing everything a host needs to make sure each party is a huge success from invites, place cards, sample menus and suggested recipes to top tips from our celebrity chefs and donation envelopes.
Smooth Radio will also provide the perfect Starlight Supper soundtrack. As the build up starts from 2pm each station will get listeners in the mood for a great night with music, party planning tips from our chefs, and celebrity guests.
As party time comes around there’ll be no need to keep changing CDs or argue over the iPod. Simply tune into Smooth Radio from 8pm for four solid hours of your favourite soulful music, non-stop with the legendary, Andy Peebles. There will be no ads, no news bulletins, just great music and mentions from listeners up and down the country hosting their own Starlight Supper’s plus an after dinner music quiz to keep guests entertained.
Steve Collins, Smooth Radio Brand Programme Director said; “What better way to spend a Saturday night than throwing a Starlight Supper party?  This is a wonderful way to have a fun night in with friends and family while raising money for charity and all to the soulful sounds of Smooth Radio.”
