Would be business owners across Cheshire targeted by free advice and workshops

By on January 18, 2010

A leading business support agency offering business start up advice across Knutsford and Cheshire says it has seen a sharp spike in New Year enquiries from people wanting to become self employed.

Blue Orchid says the majority of business start up queries are coming from workers who been made redundant over the last six months and are looking to jump start their career and earnings after Christmas.

Blue Orchid’s managing director and Cheshire spokesperson Heather Hayes urged would be business owners to take advantage of Blue Orchid’s free and comprehensive business advice service.

“We know that many families across Cheshire have been hit hard by the recession,” she said. “A lot of able people in settled jobs have suddenly found themselves redundant. Some have found it enormously difficult to find work after losing their job and after six months of job hunting are deciding to go it alone and become self employed. Others are seeing redundancy as an immediate opportunity to cash in on their skill set and become their own boss. Our message is that whatever your circumstances if you need advice on setting up in business then come to us. Our advice is publicly funded, free and available to anyone living in Cheshire. Moreover, we have a team of hugely experienced mentors and advisors who can offer advice and support through-out the journey of becoming self employed.”

Heather said Blue Orchid is rolling out a high profile series of advice seminars and workshops across Cheshire starting in January and urged curious would-be entrepreneurs to come along to find out more.

“We have a packed schedule of events and we want to impress on would-be business owners the breadth of support available,” she said. “We can help people from all backgrounds and offer training and one-to-one mentoring. We look at all the big issues from whether being your own boss is right for you to the key building blocks of business such as financial and tax planning, marketing, dealing with banks, and understanding the law. In addition we can devote expert advice to honing your business idea and getting your product or service right before trading. Setting up in business is a giant leap of faith which requires guts and clear thinking. We’re here to help people make their business dream a reality.”
