Saturday 30th January sees Knutsford 2nd XV at home to Crewe. Instead of the usual post match refreshments, they have handed the kitchen over to members of the Knutsford RNLI Committee to provide after match refreshments.
SOS day is the RNLI’s biggest fundraising day of the year and a great way to get 2010 off to a cracking start, while helping to save lives at sea. Anyone can take part, anywhere and anyhow, the idea is that all events are loosely based around SOS!
In line with the ‘SOS’ fundraising theme, ‘Savour our Sausages’ means that players and supporters alike will be treated to a steaming plate of bangers and mash, in return for a donation to RNLI funds. There will also be a raffle, with all proceeds going to swell the Charity coffers.
The RNLI is funded solely by public donation, and running costs are around £100m per year. In addition to their traditional role of saving lives around our shores, in recent months, the RNLI was heavily involved in flood rescue in Cumbria. Here in the North West is also the RNLI’s biggest current project, a £2m upgrade for the station at Hoylake.
Knutsford RNLI Committee has a long standing tradition of fundraising for the RNLI, and regularly raises around £10,000 per anum from a variety of events, the largest of which is a Ball at Mere Golf and Country Club, scheduled for 2nd October 2010. We are delighted to join forces with Knutsford Rugby Club to create this fun and fundraising event.
