The Knutsford Great Race 5th September 2010. Granada TV presenter Paul Crone wanted to grab the opportunity to learn to ride a 54″ High Wheel Machine lunchtime today on Knutsford Moor, which is the site of the famous Centenary Knutsford Penny Farthing Great Race to be held this year on Sept 5th.

So some of the senior “lads” got together to show Paul just how its done, along with some younger lads, 11 year olds, from The Grange School at Hartford.Local dentist Roger Turner and friends adjudged Paul by the end of the two hour session, after only  a few spills to be a very competent rider, so much so that he has now been invited to join Roger’s 4 man team for the actual race day. Whether he will take up this challenge is anybodys guess. So Chris Evans is next………?

Paul Crone is known for his many escapades centurion walks, absailng, free fall parachuting and he is soon to kayak across the English Chanel so today it was “Learning to Ride A Penny Farthing Machine”.

Headline sponsors for the rcae are Bentley Motors, Manchester: Bonhams Auctioneers and Booths Supermarkets. But there are many other sponsorship opportunites, to help raise over £25,0000 for www.shelterbox, More information about the race and sponsorship opportunities are available on
