Hope for Danielle

This year Lloyd Webber is searching for an actress to play Dorothy in his new West End production of “The Wizard of Oz” as well as looking for a canine actor to fill the role of Toto! Lloyd Webber has also written six new songs for this production to add to the favourites so well known and loved from the film.

Before moving to London to compete in these final stages of the show, Danielle has been busily studying for her A Levels in Drama and Dance and her BTEC National Award Musical Theatre and applying and auditioning to study Musical Theatre at Drama school. Such is her dedication to her career path; she is still maintaining her studies long distance!

Danielle progressed through two heats in Manchester and then a recall at the Hackney Empire Theatre in London before being invited to go to “Dorothy Farm” where she was chosen as one of the final 20 from an initial 9000 hopefuls.

As part of this group, Danielle spent two weeks in London training for the final audition show, which aired last Saturday night.

Last seen on the Knutsford High School stage in the role of Carmen in Fame, Danielle has been a stalwart of school productions for the past seven years. She first appeared in Bugsy Malone before taking on the role of the narrator in Lloyd Webbers own Joseph She also appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar, We Will Rock You, Guys and Dolls and as Maria in West Side Story. She also contributed to the choreography for our own lower school production of The Wizard of Oz last July!

Danielle now progresses to the live televised shows, the first of which will be screened at 7.25pm this Saturday on BBC1 where the audience will get their opportunity to vote for the actress they would most like to see playing the part of Dorothy.

Everybody at Knutsford High School is delighted for Danielle who is both incredibly talented and so deserving of this opportunity. Danielle in turn is having an amazing time in training and is hugely grateful for the support of her school and the wider community.
