Another successfull year…

By on July 21, 2010

The groups’ events co-ordinator Andrew Hurdsfield had been planning and fundraising for the event since November, managing to secure £5,000 from local business sponsorship and grant awards  to ensure the event went with a bang.

Alongside a team of resident and corporate volunteers from the area, Andrew co-ordinated activities from bungee runs to allotment gardening, the dog show to community safety demonstrations from the Fire Service. To start proceedings, Cllr Tony Want and Cllr David Heffernen cut the event’s Brithday Cake.

To end the day, Andy was himself commended for 10 years of hardwork towards the event, with the Mayor of Knutsford, Cllr. Peter Coan presenting him with an award for his efforts.

Andy was thrilled with the day: “It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by all. Outstanding turnout despite the awful weather, feedback was that it was an excellent anniversary party. It gives me great joy to see the whole community having such a good time and knowing that our hardwork was worth it.”

Community Spirit Chair, Cllr. Olivia Hunter reiterated this saying: “The 10th anniversary of the Over Ward Fun Day has been a huge success yet again and I am sure that everyone in attendance had a great day. This event proves that ‘Community Spirit’ really does work, when communities pull together as a team. I would personally like to thank everyone involved in making the day a great success and long may it run in the future!!!”

The event was made possible thanks to the support of Knutsford Town Council, D.M.Corrigan, Cheshire East Council, Great Places Housing Group, Cheshire Game Fair, Knutsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit, Cheshire Fire and Rescue, The Falcon Bearer, Cllr Olivia Hunter, Cllr Tony Want, Cllr David Heffernen, Cllr Barbara Coan, Cllr Neil Forbes, Toft Road Surgery, Sheldon’s Dairies, Knutsford Children’s Centre, Tatton Park, Bentley, Manchester Airport, Barclays, Holly House Vets, Roberts Bakery, Allied Bakers, Cheshire Community Action Grassroots, The Welcome Café, Down to Earth, 2AM Disco Fever, Connexions, Ashley & Dumville, Chess Telecoms and Oliver Valves Ltd.
