Manford brings smiles to fun day

By on September 4, 2010

The Gods smiled down on children’s charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust on Sunday, as they enjoyed a scorching day for their Annual Open Day and Family Fun Day.  The charity estimates that around 1,000 people attended the event, and they were overjoyed that their newest Patron, and star of The One Show, Jason Manford could join them too.

Jason got well and truly stuck in, turning his hand (and his foot) to a number of games including Beat the Goalie, Coconut Shy and even the Miniature Train!  He joined other visitors in a cup of tea from the Tea tent and tucked into the delicious Hog Roast.

An army of 90 staff & volunteers worked like Trojans to ensure the guests had a fantastic time at this free entry event.  An amazing £6,500 was raised which the charity will use to provide essential holidays, daytrips and Christmas Parties to terminally ill, disabled & disadvantaged children.

Each year the charity helps in the region of 3,000 children at their Cheshire base, but they can only continue thanks to the support of local individuals and business who help them to raise the £800,000 a year they need.

This year’s event had something for everyone, Mereside Brass kept guests entertained along with a fantastic display by Gauntlet Birds of Prey.  Peak Pursuits climbing wall and the Bouncy Castle were popular with the more energetic guests, and the BBQ, Bar & Hog Roast were kept busy with those looking for a more relaxing day!

Events Fundraiser, Pippa Watton, was thrilled with the outcome: “We really couldn’t have asked for a better day.  The weather was glorious, and our supporters attended in their droves.  Everyone had a wonderful time, it was lovely to see so many happy, smiling and often slightly sun-burned faces!”
