Make Do and Swish!

By on November 1, 2010

Two local ladies are organising an event befitting to the times we now find ourselves in: an evening of clothes and accessory swapping, called Style Swap.

Liz Dellapina and Jo Dionysiou are running Knutsford’s first “swishing” party, as it is known, where women can enjoy a glass of wine, some style advice, hair and beauty treatments and get to update their wardrobes at the same time.

“The evening will be a lot of fun” said Liz Dellapina, “Its a chance to swap the clothes you don’t wear or fit into anymore for someone else’s”

“We a ll have those items we regret buying because they don’t suit us” said Jo Dionysiou, “This way, they don’t languish in the back of the wardrobe, and you get to have a fun evening to boot”.

Local businesses such as Roberta Beauty, Toni&Guy, Cheshire Make-Up, Vintage Afternoon Teas and Style Consultant Lorraine Purcell will be on hand to offer treatments and advice. Any items that are left over will be donated to Refuge a charity dedicated to helping women escape domestic violence.

“We chose refuge because of the important work they do for women in desperate situations” added Jo Dionysiou.

The Event: Date 19th November at the Civic Centre in Knutsford. Clothes drop off 3.30pm – 5.30pm. Evening starts at 7.30pm, browsing begins at 8.15pm.

Tickets cost £12, are in advance and can be purchased from Via Via in Knutsford, or by emailing ilovestyleswap@gmail.com.

Refuge is a national charity providing guidance and advice, emergency housing, support, clothing, re-housing to women and their children in the grips of an abusive home life. www.refuge.org.uk.

Style Swap is a clothes swapping event where attendees are given shopping tokens in exchange for the items they bring along. 1 token for high street, 2 for higher end high street, designer and vintage. On the evening attendees browse the items and can try on anything they wish. They must return the items to the rails and then after an hour the swap begins and people can claim the items they have fallen for.
