Gusto Raises £3000 for Red Cross this Christmas

Gusto Restaurant and bar on King Street, Knutsford helped to raise £3000 for the Red Cross in Cheshire by hosting a “Christmas Tribute Evening to Michael Bublé” on Tuesday 30 November which will go toward helping vulnerable people in the Cheshire area.

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and whenever they are.  Their Cheshire based headquarters, here in Knutsford, offering first aid, emergency response and health care and social care in the UK.

At the event, diners enjoyed champagne cocktails and a choice from the superb Gusto three course Christmas menu which included crumbled goats cheese and warm honey roast figs on a bed of winter leaves, turkey escalope wrapped with cured ham and sage and chocolate and raspberry torte with white chocolate sauce.

Charlotte Whitehead, Business Development Manager for Gusto said “To build on this event and to raise further funds for this great cause during the festive period, we will be asking customers to add £1 to their bill which will go directly to the Red Cross”.

As dinner was served to over 100 guests, Alex Christy wowed the audience with his Michael Bublé tribute and made sure that everybody got in to the spirit of Christmas.

The charity auction included a whole array of stunning prizes including a VIP night in Suburbia, Hale for six people donated by Living Ventures, a Pony Party for 12 children, a painting donated by Gallery Three and a week in St Tropez at a luxury apartment for up to four people.

The highest bidder for the week in St Tropez said, “It has been a fabulous night, Alex Christie has been absolutely fantastic.  The Red Cross is a really good cause so I was happy to bid on this holiday.  I am hoping to tempt my friends

away on a fun, girl’s holiday.  I must say a big well done to Karen, who does a fantastic job as a fundraiser.”

Other party goers said of the event “It has been a really well put together event for a really good cause” and “A lovely evening, nice to do something at the beginning of the festive season, it has been very well attended despite the weather, great singer, great food, all in all a really lovely event.”

Karen Jones, Senior Community Fundraiser for the Red Cross said, “We have had a fantastic evening, there is a really great vibe.  Everybody involved has been really generous; all the auction prizes were amazing. You can feel the excitement in the room, which our fantastic singer, Alex Christie, has helped to create tonight.  It may be snowing outside but the atmosphere at this years Red Cross Christmas event is definitely Red hot.”
