Heyrose Golf Club support local children’s charity
Both the Captain and Lady Captain of Heyrose Golf Club have selected local children’s charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, as their charity for their year of captaincy. David Bond and Dorothy Hinsliff have started their fundraising year in style with their Drive ins which have raised a fantastic £1,000!
Wednesday 23rd March saw the Lady Captain’s Drive in, during which she was escorted through her fellow golfers raised clubs by Mr Captain David Bond. Each lady golfer then had to guess where Dorothy’s ball would land ahead of her shot. The nearest guess was rewarded with a prize.
CAFT Community Fundraiser Julie Gray gave the assembled golfers a presentation to educate them about the amazing work the charity is doing, explaining why their help is so vital. Later that evening there followed a dinner and prize-giving ceremony during which Dorothy ran a raffle with a difference. Each guest was invited to buy a sleeve of golf balls, two of which were marked. The lucky recipients of these won a hamper each.
Saturday 26th saw the Captain hosting his Drive in and themed dinner, another lavish and fun affair which combined with Dorothy’s day raised £1,000 for the charity.
In a statement about their year supporting CAFT, Mr Captain and Lady Captain comment: “Heyrose Golf Club is locally owned and both Mr Captain, David Bond and Lady Captain, Dorothy Hinsliff live in Knutsford and are particularly pleased that in their year of office they are supporting a local Charity . Heyrose is only a few miles from the Children’s Adventure Farm and Dorothy’s younger daughter worked there as a volunteer in its early days. This is the second time that Heyrose has supported C.A.F.T. and members are impressed with the many improvements & advances that have occurred at the Farm.
The summer season has not yet started but Heyrose members have generously contributed well over £1,500 to date and the Captains are confident that this sum will increase considerably by the end of the year. Continue the good work CAFT.”
Julie Gray, Community Fundraiser for CAFT comments:
“We were thrilled to learn we had been selected as the charity of both Mr Captain and Lady Captain for 2011. It is so kind of them both to decide they would like to support our charity and we look forward to a fantastic year working with them both.”
