Arley Hall Christmas shopping extravaganza is 21!

By on October 31, 2011

Committee members of the Arley Christmas Shopping Spectacular have been celebrating the event’s 21st Birthday this month.

The Committee of busy mums, and one grandfather, are delighted to be staging this well known event in the North West calendar for its 21st year.  The money raised from the Christmas Shopping Spectacular has benefitted many local children over the last twenty years.

Over the next five years, the Committee is aiming to raise £60,000 for the Seashell Trust, a local charity helping young people who have severe communication difficulties.

Elly Lees-Jones, Chair of this year’s committee has said, “It’s amazing how much time and energy our Committee put into this great event.  All of us are busy with our families, homes and work, but we are delighted to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause. We had a little count up the other day, and between our 13 Committee Members we have 24 young children and 4 grandchildren!  It’s a shame we don’t have the energy we did when we were 21 to keep up with them!”

This year’s event is promised to be the best yet, with around 60 handpicked stalls from all over the UK offering a wide variety of stunning gifts and ideas for Christmas.  Suzie Dickens who selects the stallholders commented,  “We have got lots of small businesses queuing up to get a stall at our Christmas Shopping Spectacular, but I am very keen that we get the right mix of stalls to give shoppers the variety they need to make a good start on their Christmas shopping in such a relaxed setting.  This year, our stalls include fabulous gifts for both adults and children, fine foods and wines, beautiful decorations, clothes, jewellery, gorgeous home interiors and much more.”

The event is held in the beautiful Arley Hall and in its charming barns.  On the evening of Monday 7th November there will be a Champagne and Shopping Evening from 6pm ‘til 9.30pm.  Tickets are £8 in advance/ £10 on the night which includes a glass of champagne and canapes.  This is a very sociable evening where guests can chat with friends and listen to the beautiful music of local choirs whilst doing their shopping.

The daytime event on Tuesday 8th November is from 10am ‘til  3pm and tickets are £5 on the door. The Tudor Barn Cafe will also be open for lunch and refreshments.
