Following the move of The Prescription Service to 11 Tatton Street in Knutsford, George Osborne paid a visit to the team to see how the business was progressing in their new premises. Husband and wife team Caroline and Lee Williams, their business partners Tony and Jane Hall and the dispensary team welcomed George and his daughter Liberty to their new shop

Lee explained to George that since his previous visit in March 2011, the pharmacy is now open for 100 hours per week and how the business had evolved to reflect this change. The shop now stocks a wide variety of medications, which has been very useful during the last few weeks with all the winter bugs affecting Knutsford residents. The pharmacy also offers flu vaccinations to protect people from contracting seasonal flu.

The Prescription Service still operates the same delivery service in addition to its new shop premises. George took the opportunity during his visit to see what it was like to be behind the wheel of our delivery van.

George also discussed with Caroline and Lee some of the changes about to take place in the NHS, with the introduction of doctor led Clinical Commissioning Groups in place of the current Primary Care Trusts. This will hopefully have a positive impact on the number and type of services pharmacies will be able to offer in the future. This improves access to certain medications and heath checks normally provided by GPs and hospitals only.

Caroline also asked George about the difficulty all pharmacies are facing when obtaining certain medications for patients due to drug manufacturer quotas. This limits the availability of some treatments to pharmacies and can cause problems for patients receiving their prescriptions.  He was aware of this issue and has offered his assistance which will be appreciated greatly.

George Osborne said “Having officially opened the Prescription Service in Minshull Street in March 2011, it was great to visit their new and expanded premises in Canute Square and hear about their improved pharmacy and prescription delivery service. I was delighted to hear personally about their success which has enabled the business to make this move into a prominent position in the town and wish them all the best for the future”

The Prescription Service is located at 11 Tatton Street, Knutsford and is open from 7am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday and 9am to 7pm on a Sunday. For enquires or to order a prescription contact Caroline, Lee or one of the dispensary team at The Prescription Service on 01565 633322 or visit www.theprescriptionservice.co.uk.
