Tabley House Exterior - 2011 - YvonneTwelve months in development, The Tabley House Collection has announced a series of special themed tours to appeal to groups interested in fine art and historic houses.

Topics range from the life of the fine art collectors upstairs to the importance of those below stairs in keeping a country estate alive.  The stories cross the centuries and the gender divide and there’s much to appeal to all types of groups.

Clare Pye, Chair of The Tabley House Collection Trust, who delivers a number if the tours herself, says;

“We have been successfully attracting group visits to The Tabley House Collection ever since we opened.  Many visitors comment that there is so much to see and so many stories to explore that a second or even a third visit is needed to take it all in.  This is testament to our excellent tour guides.  Besides offering these tours to those new to Tabley and its Collection, we  also thought it would be great to offer groups the chance to come along to the Collection a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th time and still discover something new.”

The Collection has tested all of the themed tours with volunteers, Friends of Tabley House, and members of NADFAS.  They tweaked the format and the content following the trial runs but all in all the tours were received enthusiastically.

Comments from participants included:
“most enjoyable and well delivered”, “just great”, “detail without being overloaded”.

The special tours typically take 2 – 3 hours and cost £15.00 per head including tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival and a set of handouts to take away.  Half- day study tours including lunch can also be provided.

The themed tours are:
The Collectors and The Collection – an opportunity to learn more about the fine collection of oil paintings across the centuries and/or discover more about the amazing book collection at Tabley.
