Aldi announced as Egerton Club-Patron
Aldi has been named the official club patron of Egerton Football Club as part of its commitment to support the local community.
The sponsorship will assist the formation of the Egerton Sports Campus on Mereheath Lane which continues to support the development of sport amongst children aged 5-18. As club Patron, Aldi will become the official shirt and training kit sponsor for the girl’s and boy’s youth teams as well as the men’s first and reserve teams.
Significant support will also be provided to the club to help with a series of fund raising initiatives that take place throughout the year, including the summer Family Fun Day on 30 June where East Cheshire Hospice has been nominated as the designated charity.
The patronage will also help the newly formed Egerton Sports Campus continue to provide a wide-range of sporting and social activities for youngsters throughout Knutsford including football, gymnastics, basketball, netball, badminton and kick boxing.
Tom O’Donnell, Chairman of Egerton Football Club, commented: “This is a significant sponsorship arrangement for Egerton as we try to move the facility at Mereheath Lane forward. It will provide children in Knutsford with a range of football and other sporting opportunities over the next few years. Aldi has also signalled its strong commitment to the Knutsford community with a number of initiatives throughout the town for which we are extremely grateful for.
“We’re looking forward to Egerton’s annual Family Fun Day at the end of June where we’ll be celebrating the achievements of our teams over the past year.”
Mark Burton, Sports Development Officer for Egerton Youth Club, added “The support of Aldi over the next year is a great demonstration of a business and the community coming together, and we trust Aldi will be with us on our ambitious plans to move Egerton forward. Initial projects that we have identified for the financial support include new 9 v 9 goals for mini football and help for the basketball team with its remarking of lines on the basketball court.”
Stuart Parks, Aldi Area Manager for the Knutsford store, commented: “We are extremely proud to become the Football Club Patron at Egerton and encouraging healthy eating and exercise is something we are passionate about. After sponsoring the Classic Tournament in May we knew we wanted to get more involved with the Club as we could see the great facility it provided to the local community, helping to develop sport amongst so many young people.
“As well as our commitment to developing sport, we will be supporting healthy eating within the community with our ‘Super 6’ special buys where six items of fruit and vegetables will be available each week from only 49p.
“We are looking forward to being part of and supporting the local community and are especially looking forward to Egerton’s youth teams helping us open the store at 8am on Thursday 27th June.”
Aldi will be open from 8am on the 27th June.
