Lighten up – (Father) Christmas is just around the corner!

By on November 15, 2013

Tatton Park is inviting everyone to join them in giving Father Christmas a very special welcome on the evening of Friday November 29 when he’ll be arriving at the Cheshire estate to spend Christmas at Home Farm.

Prancer and Dancer at Lantern Parade

They’re encouraging as many people as possible to come and light his route with lanterns through the twighlight  parkland……truly magical.

Father Christmas will proceeed along a lantern-lit walk to Tatton’s Stableyard where star guests – the farm’s reindeer, Prancer and Dancer – will be waiting in anticipation. Children will also be able to post a Christmas wish-list and families can indulge in some Christmas shopping which this year includes a Christmas Gift Fair. The restaurant and new Gardener’s Cottage tea room will be open for festive food and drink.

There’s also the opportunity to ‘give a little back’ by donating any unwanted toys to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital charity, where they will find a very welcome home.

Father Christmas will be arriving just in the nick of time – for he starts four weekends at the farm the following day on Saturday, November 30.  Visitors will be able to meet him and his elves in his grotto where he’ll have a sack full of presents with a gift for all children.

A trip to the farm this Christmas looks set to be a great festive day out for the family. All the farmyard animals are on show and some are the star attractions of the nativity scene. Lots of other festive activities will be taking place including storytelling by Honor Giles, weaving winter magic with seasonal tales and Aunty Mary keeping warm in the cottage and waiting for Christmas callers to help make handmade decorations to take home. The day will be topped off with live festive music and there’ll be festive food and drink to purchase.

Children can learn how to light Santa’s way in a free lantern making workshop in the main Stableyard barn room on Saturday and Sunday November 23 and 24. On the weekends of November 30/December 1, December 7/8 and 14/15 children can also take part in free festive hat making sessions in the stableyard barn room. Park entry charge applies for both these events.
