Launch of the Knutsford Makers Market this Sunday 6th of April
It is with great excitement and a feeling of great privilege that I can announce that alongside Knutsford town council we will be launching a new monthly market for Knutsford, the Knutsford Makers Market.
The event like the Artisan its predecessor will celebrate the finest in local food, drink, art, design and craft producers and will be held on the first Sunday of the Month. Alongside this we will be showcasing community projects and groups, talented musicians and performance.
The launch event promises to be a superb weekend for Knutsford. We have been working with the organisers of the Knutsford Beer Festival, who have extended the beer festival to coincide with the market. There will be a wide variety of local produce and over 40 independent craft beers such Dangerously Dark, Cheshire Gap, Hoptimus Prime and ciders to whet the appetite. Beers include a special festival beer, Crowning Glory, brewed by Tatton Brewery to celebrate 150 years of the Knutsford May Day.
The Knutsford ‘Royal’ May Day Festival organisers will have a stall where they will be selling souvenir programmes. The organisers say ‘We are very proud to be celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the first May Day Festival in Knutsford this year, and so we are trying to make it our finest and most enjoyable for the children of the town.’
We will also be joined by the Knutsford Bunny Hop who will be distributing leaflets, and the Knutsford hosts.
The ever popular Dave Mooney, Knutsford’s celebrity chef will be doing a live demo kitchen at 1pm outside the session house. He will be using ingredients you can pick up at the market to create a tasty dish. You do not want to miss this.
Music and performance at the Knutsford Makers Market includes
The Loose Change Buskers who will perform outside the Old Town Hall, and who collect for Cancer Research. They are old favourites of the previous artisan market, and last year collected just over £100,000 for the cause. We will also be joined by ‘Get Back’ band, who comprise of ‘3 ‘dinosaurs’ who play guitars and bass and a much younger drummer(Son of the Lead guitarist) plus three trained singers, two younger men(brothers) and a young female. They collect for Teenage Cancer Trust.
We will also be showcasing two Knutsford Businesses, Bridget of Knutsford Bloom and Sarah from the Cheese Yard.
There will also be face painters, balloon modellers, artists and even a bouncy castle for the very little market visitors. A lovely fun packed day for all the family in Knutsford this Sunday, 11-4pm, please don’t miss it!
