By on April 1, 2014

Generous Knutsfordians, local businesses and dignitaries attended the sell-out Knutsford Mayor’s Civic Ball on Saturday 29th March raising over £5000 for the Mayor’s charities Knutsford Lions and Cheshire Search and Rescue. A sensational £10,000 was directly donated on the night to Cheshire Search and Rescue by Monckton Properties.

The successful event, organised by the Town Council, was held at the Belle Epoque and it was the numerous Auction and raffle prizes kindly donated by many Knutsford and Cheshire businesses which helped to raise the bulk of the funds with over £3600 being raised on the night itself. Pulse of Perfumery’s Peter Murray was the Master of Ceremonies and auctioneer at the event helping to encourage the guests to part with £2000 for the fantastic auction prizes.

Town Mayor Councillor Barbara Coan said “the support of the local businesses this year has been phenomenal and vital to helping us raise so much on the night. I would like to thank everyone and all the businesses involved for their generosity and Lisa Benskin Mayor’s PA and Adam Keppel-Garner Town Clerk for organising the event”.

So many prizes were donated for the auction and raffle that an additional event is being planned to raise further funds for the two charities before the end of Barbara’s Mayoral year. “We received over 100 prizes in total and we wanted to ensure that none were devalued so it was decided it would be best to fit in an additional fundraising event.”

Cllr Coan also extended her thanks to the three entertainers, singers Steve Bernstein and Yvette Royle and magician Carl Royle, who all contributed to the event’s success and kept the guests regaled until the early hours. The entertainment was sponsored by Fisher German.
