By on July 31, 2017

Knutsford Fire Station raised over £1,000 with support from the local community from a car wash held at the station.

The fundraising activity was held in aid of Birchwood firefighter Vicki Griffiths, who has been left unable to feel or move from the waist down after a serious accident. The event also raised money for the family of Carl Marsh who died after a parachute jump.

The team have so far raised over £10,000 for Vicki to help with the cost of home and vehicle adaptations plus other living expenses related to her accident, estimated to cost around £45,000 to enable her to live independently.

There have been activities taking place at fire station open days including car washes, a bike ride around all fire stations in Cheshire, collections at football games, a 1000k cycle challenge along with carnivals and other activities. You can find out more about #ForVicki on Twitter or on the Cheshire Fire & Rescue website.  Donations have can also be made on JustGiving here.

The Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service will soon be recruiting for new full time firefighters, find out more here.
