Proposed constituency boundary consultation re-opens for Knutsford

By on November 2, 2017

The third consultation on proposed constituency boundary changes has re-opened with a third consultancy on the way on the future of Knutsford, Mobberley and High Legh joining with Knutsford to create ‘Altrincham and Knutsford’.

The proposals were opposed last year by George Osborne who suggested Knutsford would be better paired with Macclesfield than Altrincham to keep villages such as Chelford and Over Peover within the locale and continue to link with Macclesfield for education, healthcare and local governance.

The changes could be put to Parliament next year with a view to implement from the 2022 General Election. This would reduced the number of MP’s in Parliament.

Over 25,000 consultation responses have been received. Comments are open at bce2018.org.uk until 11th December 2017.
