Plans to be unveiled for new Knutsford development by McCarthy and Stone

By on November 24, 2017

Retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, are reaching out the local community about their plans to create retirement living accommodation on land at Memorial House, Northwich Road, Knutsford.

The site was purchased from the Red Cross and the organisation is putting forward plans to convert the site into around 46 one and two-bedroom retirement living apartments, complete with professionally landscaped gardens. A dedicated memorial garden, with access from Northwich Road will be included with the plans. They are also looking at retaining the more sensitive features of the existing building where possible incorporating them into the design of the new building.

Local residents are invited to view the proposals at a public exhibition on Thursday 30th November 2017, between 3pm and 7pm at St Johns Church, Church Hill, Knutsford. Members of the McCarthy and Stone project team will be on hand at the public exhibition to answer questions, and listen to feedback from residents. Where possible, feedback received will be incorporated into the final design proposals.

Ian Wilkins, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone North-West Region, said: “We are looking forward to speaking to the local community about our proposals, and hearing their feedback. This development would provide much-needed specialist housing in Knutsford, and would positively contribute to the local community through a high-quality, attractive design.

McCarthy and Stone recognises that there is a rising demand for retirement accommodation in Cheshire East, with the projected number of people aged over 65 set to rise by 42% by 2037. We recognise that the site is important to the local community. We have a clear aim to honour the commemorative significance of the site, and hope to work closely with the local community moving forward with our proposals.”

If you are not able to attend the public exhibition, or would like further information, McCarthy and Stone has provided a Freephone information line (0800 298 7040). You can also visit the project website to see the initial proposals: www.mccarthyandstoneconsultation.co.uk/knutsford
