Launch Party for Knutsford Musical Theatre Company
From the beginning of April, Knutsford Musical Theatre Company is launched. This new name for Knutsford Amateur Operatic Society better reflects the style of the Company. A competition to design a new logo was won by Ben Cashmore, the grandson of a Company member.
To celebrate, the Company toasted with a glass of bubbly and cutting the cake by current Chairman, Mrs Lesley Reed and President, Mr Ken Webb. Mr Webb has been a member of the group since 1957, when he started as Musical Director. He has recently retired as North West Regional Councillor for the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, and has shared his wisdom and experience with the Knutsford group over the years.
As well as a new name and logo, the Company also have a new rehearsal venue. The Shaw Heath Social Club has welcomed the Company and Wednesday night rehearsals have become a Social event as well as the hard work of learning songs, dances and scripts. Current rehearsals are for a Memorial Concert for Mrs Anne Hooker, a member of the Society who sadly passed away last year. The “Magic of Musicals” concert will consist of music from the shows that Anne produced in the past, and is a collaboration with Mid Cheshire Amateur Operatic Society and Zodiacs. The concert is on May 27th at Northwich Memorial Hall.
Rehearsals will soon be starting for the autumn show. All are welcome to join, there is always plenty to do both on stage and off-stage. For more details see the Company website www.knutsfordaos.org.
