More Wimbledon champions at The Mere than at Wimbledon!
The Boodles Classique 2013 serves up an ace at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa
Sponsors, guests, players and hosts arrived at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa for this year’s prestigious corporate tennis event, The Boodles Classique 2013. It is the first time the event has been held at the luxury Cheshire resort following its £15m refurbishment last year and event organisers have worked tirelessly for the past seven months to ensure this year’s event is the best yet.
The Mere’s setting and location combined with its superb facilities and reputation for first class service made it the venue of choice for this most unique North West networking and entertainment event.
Tennis stars Goran Ivanisevic, Richard Krajicek, Mark Philippoussis, Peter McNamara, Mikael Pernfors and Anders Jarryd, together with paralympic players Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson opened the tournament this afternoon at 12:30pm when play commenced.
The tournament opened with a wheelchair tennis exhibition match featuring the UK’s number two and number three paralympic tennis players, Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson, who were against Richard Krajicek and Mark Philippoussis were also playing in wheelchairs.
Paralympic gold medallist, Lee Pearson CBE will also be attending the event this week as he represents Enable Sport, this year’s Official Tournament Charity which works to give disabled athletes a chance to be able to compete by providing support and equipment.
Tournament Director Vicky Collins from White Events together with Janice Crosbie, Events Manager at The Mere, have ensured every detail has been meticulously planned from the number of champagne glasses to the erecting of the grand marquee and grandstand for the event.
