Staly a bridge too far
For the first game of the season, illness ravaged Knutsford played host to Stalybridge. Knutsford won the toss and bowled first on a green track.
Though Knutsford bowled well in places, espically S. Hudson, Gough and Cook, not enough wickets were taken early on so Stalybridge reached a very competitive 183 for 7. This total was not nearly as daunting as it sounds as the normally slow Knutsford wicket was played very well.
When Knutsford batted Storrow and Sheridan started well against the Stalybridge opening bowlers. Just as the openers looked to increase the tempo first change bowler Harwick struck removing Sheridan. Two further quick wickets for Harwick had Knutsford rocking at 50 for 3 but Storrow made the game safe with 66 and with help from partners Amin on his debut and premier all rounder Gough.
Unfortunately the second team didn't play as Knutsford didn't have enough players for two teams. If anyone is interested in a game please contact George Storrow or John Sheldon on 07899 901930 or 07809 489411 or turn up to practice at Knutsford sports club on Tuesday evening. We practice every week from 6pm onwards. If unable to make 6pm come when you can.
