Top performance from Mere CCC
Mere lost the toss and got asked to bowl. The club got off to a flyer as both Rob Jones and Kim Pinnington took wickets in there first overs which immediately left the visitors playing catch up cricket at 3-3 off 3 overs.
There main man Suckley and Barlow tried to get Malpas back on track with a partnership of 60 untill Jamie Plews got a wicket straight after the drinks break with a well taken catch by Ben Owen at mid wicket. Dan Nicholls was soon introduced to the attack and got Suckley caught at mid wicket by Jimmy Roper for 51.
Mere were really on top now as Malpas were 74-6. With the Pelicans bowling out of there skins and being backed up in the field with some great catches. It was now no surprise to see wickets falling left right and centre. With the appeals being heard as far as Mere Golf Club. Mere went through the Malpas tale and left them 94 all out.
Jamie Plews 8.5 overs 4-18
Kim Pinnington 11 overs 2-38
Dan Nicholls 4 overs 1-12
Rob Jones 6 overs 1-23
Max Ekstein and Jimmy Roper got the innings off to a decent start untill Max Ekstein was caught for 13. It was important that someone stayed there till the end and with Jimmy Roper and Jamie Plews at the crease it was important that Roper played the supporting role as Plews hit a quick fire 31. The runs were finally knocked off in the 30th over with Jimmy Roper unbeaten on 19. Mere picked up another top scalp and won by 4 wickets.
The best performance so far this year and with 3 tough games to come untill the half way mark. It’s important the the team keeps improving to get higher up the table.
